What helps?

Writing everyday helps.

Exercise everyday can help. It doesn’t need to be much. 20mins can be enough. Build up a sweat. Clear out the lymphatic system. It’s enough.

Breaking down a large task into parts helps. If something needs doing just start with a small piece of the larger. That helps.

Starting from scratch can help. If you’ve hit a dead end think about starting again. It’s OK. It can help.

Take responsibility. Make a decision that needs to be made. It’s not selfish. That will help.

Stay present. Stay conscious.

Small victories

We are often told to aim big and dream.

That’s all well and good. Dreams keep you going…

But sometimes big goals and big dreams make it easier to lose motivation and even quit.

Small victories are important. Not quitting is a victory.

That’s territory I’m operating in at the moment.

The small victory that I’m aiming for now is to hit 1,000 running miles for 2023. And although that only averages out at less than 20 miles per week, I know it represents a “win”. I’ve still got out there and kept the body moving. Even if at times I’ve felt like a quitter, I’m still in it.

16.6 miles left to run in December

I know running makes me feel mentally stronger and every single step of the 1,000 miles logged this year is important.

If you have got to the end of this post – Merry Christmas. I hope 2024 is a good one.
